Taiwan TIPO (Taiwan Intellectual Property Office) has set up an “Industrial Patent Knowledge Platform” to import more than 1.8 million pieces of Patent Invention publications and Patent Gazette issued by the 5 major Intellectual Property Office (the United States, Europe, Japan, China, and South Korea) and TIPO. From March 2, 2018, through a unified format of open data, it is provided for free download to domestic business entities and schools.

In the past, the patent database of TIPO only provided information on Taiwan’s patent Publication and Patent Gazette. Nowadays, it also imports patent information from the worldwide top 5 intellectual property offices to make the patent search database more complete. The purpose of establishing the “Industrial Patent Knowledge Platform” is to assist Taiwan’s industrial R&D and assist companies in acquiring patent big data to grasp patent trends. From now on, TIPO will continue to import the latest patent information.

The “Industrial Patent Knowledge Platform” began trial operation on March 2nd, 2018. TIPO solicited applications from domestic companies or schools willing to use it, and worked together to enhance the R&D and intellectual property environment in Taiwan.
