Active Intellectual Property Assert；Leverage Patent Operation
Beijing Foton Daimler Automotive Co., Ltd. was established with Foton and Daimler each holding a 50% ownership with the registered capital of 5.6 billion yuan, which has technical advantages from China, Unite States, Germany and manufactures international standard, green energy heavy-duty trucks and heavy-duty engines. Daimler contributes the investments in cash; Foton contributes the investments in patent properties and license in this joint venture. Foton reserve the right of patent properties.
Early in 2016, Johnson & Johnson Innovation and Janssen Pharmaceuticals, Inc. announced an exclusive license agreement with Chia Tai Tianqing Pharmaceutical Group Co., Ltd. (CTTQ), a Chinese domestic pharmaceutical company and subsidiary of Sino Biopharma, Ltd. focused on liver diseases, to develop, manufacture and commercialize, outside of China, undisclosed immune-modulating agents to treat human diseases, including curative treatment of chronic Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. According to this agreement, Johnson & Johnson will pay 1.6 billion Yuan for down payment, payment, and royalty.
Many people who around the IP industry have considered year-2015 as the first year of patent operation in China. The Government, research institutes, enterprises, Intellectual property services institutes would have strong focus on patent operation since 2015. In 2016, the official Intellectual property Operation Fund for Beijing and Sichuan Province has registered. The Intellectual property services institutes can be divided for 2 models: service platform and services group (like PIIP group). The Intellectual property service group would be more close to market and provide tailor-made professional business. It is important for developing and transforming of patent operation and the professional division of business in the future.
The slogan “build Intellectual property, strengthen the country” has been proposed. The patent fillings would not only be attracted, but also pay attention the quality of patent filings also. Through information collection, technology assessment, market forecasting, patent deployment to achieve successful patent operation. It is better that Intangible assets can maximize its own value, increase competitive activity, create economic and social benefits via patent operation.
