By the PPH application statistics published by Taiwan IPO (Intellectual Property Office) to compare the examination efficiency
The Patent Prosecution Highway (referred to as the PPH) system means that when a part or all of the claims for a patent application is approved by the office of the first filing (Office of First Filing, OFF), the applicant may provide the information to the office of second filing (OSF), so as to make OSF be able to take advantage of the results of the search and review of OFF, which will speed up the review of the case.

However, what we are more interested in the PPH cases is the average OA and PPS case for the first time OA.

The following figure is the average period of the general PPH case for the initial OA and Examination prosecution respectively.
We can see, by means of PPH, the average period of initial OA can be speeded up to about 1.86 months, far less than the normal situation of 17.1 months (only about 1/8 of normal process time). The average period of examination prosecution can be speed up to about 4.9 months, much less than the normal conditions of 9.6 months (about 1/2 of the normal process time).
